I was not a “church kid” growing up. My Wednesday nights typically consisted of either baseball practice, or “your grades are horrible dont you have homework.”
Taking this into consideration, my time thus far in student ministry has really been alot of;
“i think this is totally cool, lets do it!”
And to be totally honest i spent alot of last year conversating with God about His plans for my life after the challenge of my current ministry contect, working with students.
Needless to say i learned a ton last year! About students, about the inner workings of the church, and of course about myself. I learned that i was not accustomed to the amount of planning required to do ministry with a minimal amout of stress from week to week. In other words, i learned that i was horrible at planning.
This year however, were writing a new story. I have planned out the next 52 weeks of the year begining on August 8th, just over a week away, and concluding at the end of July 2013.
Message topics include;
The trinity
Sex/Dating/Relationships
Communication
Sharing your faith
Advent
Man of God
Woman of God
and of course specific book studies through Ruth, Galatians, and Philippians.
I would love to hear from the youth group kids out there, either present or past, and what you would have liked to have studied or been taught in your past student ministry experience.
We have a great group of students who are capable of some challenging teaching! Really excited for this coming year, as well ae your feedback!
What do you think?
